Fun in the Outdoors!
Within a few miles of Johnson City and Kingsport there's outdoor recreation for any enthusiast! Want to hike? The Appalachian Trail is nearby, as are many other easier hikes. Whitewater rafting? It's available with professional guides. Fishing or hunting? The lakes operated by the Tennessee Valley Authority offer miles of shoreline. Four lakes are within an hour's drive. These same lakes offer opportunities for boating and water skiing during the summer months, with both commercial and free docks. If snow skiing is your interest, a short drive to Gatlinburg or across the state line into North Carolina will give you ample choice of slopes. Just want to hang out, relax, and enjoy nature? Then one of the nearby state or national parks is the perfect place! Camera buffs will find waterfalls, wildflowers, landscapes, wonderful fall color and other opportunities for fabulous shooting. With our four season climate, there's always something to enjoy outdoors!
